Bybit TradFi: Stock Futures, MT5 CFD vs Perps, Gold Trading, Nasdaq Leverage
Trade stocks or gold as futures on Bybit and you buy one of two contracts that settle the price difference, never the stock.
The names changed in July 2026, and many guides still use the old ones. So I checked Bybit’s help center against its announcements and measured seven perps myself, from funding to order books. Where I couldn’t measure something, I say so.

After the July rename, am I trading a Bybit MT5 CFD or a perp?
Bybit TradFi is now a menu name, and for stocks and gold it holds two contracts. TradFi perps trade 24/7 from your Unified Trading Account. MT5 CFDs run in a separate MT5 CFD Account on weekdays. Neither gives you the stock.
Until July 2026, Bybit TradFi meant the MT5 product, which Bybit then renamed CFD. Its notice reads “Your TradFi Account is now your MT5 CFD Account,” with instruments, fees and open positions unchanged. So older Bybit TradFi reviews describe today’s CFD.
TradFi Perpetuals (TradFi perps) are USDT-settled perpetual futures on assets such as stocks and gold. A CFD (contract for difference) has no expiry and settles the price change with the provider. A perp moves funding between longs and shorts every few hours. A CFD charges or pays a swap each night.
By my own measurement, a $10,000 market order in and out of the QQQ perp cost $8.34. QQQ is the Nasdaq 100 ETF, and the total counts one day of funding and order books from October 29, 2026.
If you don’t have a Bybit account yet, entering our referral code at sign-up attaches the new-user perk. The perk is whatever the sign-up screen shows.

What can you trade on Bybit TradFi, and do you own it?
On Bybit one stock can show up as a TradFi perp, an MT5 CFD, an xStocks token or a Bybit Stocks share, and only Bybit Stocks makes you a shareholder.
| Apple on Bybit | What you hold | Account | Hours | Holding cost | Leverage |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| AAPLUSDT · TradFi perp | A price contract, no share | Unified Trading Account (USDT) | 24/7 | Funding every 8 hours | Yes, by tier |
| AAPL CFD · MT5 CFD | A CFD, no share | MT5 CFD Account (USDx) | Weekday sessions | Nightly swap | Yes, per instrument |
| AAPLX · xStocks | A Backed token, no vote | Unified Trading Account, spot | 24/7 | None | None |
| AAPL · Bybit Stocks | The real share | Unified Trading Account (USDC, per Bybit) | Weekday US sessions | None | None |
The perps sit under TradFi → Futures and the CFDs under TradFi → CFD. TradFi → Options is outside this guide. xStocks are tokens issued by Backed that track a share, under Trade → Spot → xStocks. Bybit Stocks, launched October 12, is for real US shares and ETFs (details per Bybit’s announcement).
TradFi perps and CFDs never hand you the stock or the gold. You get no vote. A dividend reaches you only through price, funding or a balance adjustment. A perp prices it in, a stock CFD credits longs and debits shorts, and xStocks raise a balance multiplier instead of adding tokens.
View full size ↗The perp and the CFD are separate products with different accounts, hours and holding costs. Binance’s TradFi is perps only, with no MT5 or CFD. The forum line “Binance TradFi is perps, Bybit TradFi is CFD” was true before July 2026. For Binance’s stock tokens, see our Binance stocks guide.
If the perp route fits, it runs on USDT in a Bybit account, and new users enter our code at sign-up.

How do Bybit TradFi perps differ from crypto perps?
Bybit TradFi perps follow the same funding, margin and liquidation rules as Bybit’s crypto USDT perps. What differs is the market underneath. Stocks close at night and on weekends, pay dividends and split, and on a split Bybit changes the contract size.
The Unified Trading Account (UTA) is the single Bybit account for spot coins and derivatives margin. The funding rate is a scheduled payment between longs and shorts. It pulls the perp toward the index price, Bybit’s reference price from outside markets. The mark price is what Bybit uses to value your position and trigger liquidation.
Bybit’s Index Price help page says index parts that stop updating are dropped while their market is shut, which leaves weekend prices to trading on Bybit.
New to perps? Start with spot vs futures and isolated vs cross margin.
How do Bybit MT5 CFD fees, swaps and stop-outs work?
Bybit MT5 CFDs charge you through the spread or a commission per lot, plus a swap for every night you hold. There is no funding, and stock CFDs close on weekends.
The MT5 CFD Account runs on MetaTrader 5, and only a Bybit main account can open one. You move USDT or BYUSDT in. MT5 shows it as USDx, one to one. CFDs trade in the Bybit app, on the website or in MT5, but not through Bybit’s V5 API. The provider is your counterparty, and Bybit says its CFD is powered by Infra Capital.
Zero-Fee Mode is the default, with no separate commission and the cost built into the spread. Its symbols end in .s, like XAUUSD.s. Tight-Spread Mode has a tighter spread plus a fixed commission per lot, and its symbols end in +.
Bybit’s help center says Tight-Spread needs a manual switch and a cumulative deposit of 3,000 USD. Its fee article lists $6 per lot for forex and metals. US stock CFDs are $0.02 per lot, with a $0.2 minimum per order. I could not measure CFD spreads, because they exist only inside MT5.
A lot is MT5’s size unit. For the new US stock CFDs one lot is one share, and an XAUUSD lot has a contract size of 100.
A swap is the overnight fee or credit on an open CFD. For US stock CFDs, Bybit’s fee article uses quantity × price × swap rate ÷ 360. Its Apple example uses a quantity of 10 at 198.36 and a swap rate of −6.88%, so one night comes to −0.379088 USDx. Some guides divide by 365, but Bybit’s own example uses 360.
A 3-day swap charges one night three times to cover the weekend. Bybit’s fee article says it is usually Wednesday. Its index example and the October 29 stock CFD table say Friday. Bybit’s own documents give different CFD leverage caps and 3-day swap days. The MT5 Specification window is where to check them.
On leverage, a September 18 announcement raised gold and 21 forex pairs to up to 1:2000 from September 21, and the 20 US stock CFDs that trade 24/5 to up to 1:100. Both caps shrink as exposure grows. Bybit’s fee help table still lists metals up to 500:1 and US stock CFDs up to 5:1.
Margin level is equity divided by used margin, times 100%. A stop-out is the forced close when it falls too low. Bybit’s liquidation help article puts that at 50% or below, closing the largest loss first.
Dividend adjustments credit longs and debit shorts. Bybit’s learn articles say 30% withholding applies to US stock CFD dividend adjustments, so a long gets the net amount. Check the adjustment in your own account. Bybit also warns that CFD quotes may have lower liquidity outside US trading hours.
How do you start trading stock futures on Bybit?
To trade Bybit stock futures you need a Bybit account, USDT in the Unified Trading Account and one signed trading agreement. The perps need no MT5 and no extra account.
- Sign up on the official Bybit site or app. Enter the referral code in the referral field on the sign-up screen.
5ZGKX#0 Type it in full, including the #0 at the end.
No official Bybit page says that signing up with a referral code lowers TradFi fees. I found no Bybit page on adding a code later either, so do it on that screen.
- Fund the Unified Trading Account with USDT.
- Open TradFi → Futures and pick a contract, such as TSLAUSDT, QQQUSDT (Nasdaq 100) or XAUUSDT (gold).
- Sign the trading agreement when Bybit shows it. Only the master account can sign.
- Choose margin mode and leverage, as on a crypto perp.
- Place the order. A resting limit order pays the maker fee and a market order pays the taker fee. Our stop-loss guide covers exits.
As of our public API check on October 29, 2026, Bybit listed 292 TradFi perps, 228 of them stocks and 57 ETFs. Samsung Electronics and SK hynix are on the list, and the menu is the live count.
What happens to Bybit stock perps on weekends?
Bybit TradFi perps keep trading through weekends and US holidays. Across 103 US closures up to October 29, the Sunday 8 pm ET perp had priced in 40% of the move to Monday’s regular open.
In US regular hours from August 6 to October 29, 2026, the perps sat a median 0.047% to 0.061% from the stock. While the stock market is closed, trades on Bybit set the perp price. So it can differ from the price at which the market reopens.
Each of the 103 closures on the four US contracts runs from 8 pm ET on the last trading day to 8 pm ET the evening before trading restarts. I matched Bybit 5-minute prices with Yahoo Finance. The share priced in is how much of the Friday-to-Monday move the perp had already made.
| Comparison | Closures | Priced in | Perp error | Friday price error | Perp closer |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| US four, Sunday 8 pm perp vs Monday open | 103 | 40% | 0.59% | 0.67% | 54.4% |
| US four, Sunday 8 pm perp vs first pre-market price | 103 | 73% | 0.4% | 0.51% | 60.2% |
| US four, Monday 9:25 ET perp vs open | 103 | 99% | 0.06% | 0.67% | 95.1% |
| US four, Binance perp vs Monday open | 103 | 40% | 0.59% | 0.67% | 55.3% |
| US three, xStocks spot vs Monday open | 103 | 33% | 0.75% | 0.67% | 47.4% |
| Korea two, 08:55 Seoul perp vs KRX open | 42 | 94% | 0.37% | 3.25% | 85.7% |
| Gold, weekend perp vs COMEX reopen | 33 | 58% | 0.28% | 0.29% | 63.6% |
The yardstick changes the answer. Against Monday’s first pre-market price, the same Sunday reading had priced in 73%, simply because that print comes sooner. At 9:25 ET Monday the perp was a median 0.06% from the open. By then the pre-market is trading, so that row shows tracking, not forecasting.
Against keeping Friday’s price, the Sunday perp was closer to the open in 54.4% of closures. When the open moved more than 1%, it pointed the right way 85.7% of the time. The widest drift during a closure was 3.52% on Nvidia, from May 22 to May 26. On Tesla an hour of regular trading carried about 16 times the volume of a closed-market hour.
View full size ↗Korean listings behaved differently. For Samsung Electronics and SK hynix, the perp at 08:55 Seoul time had priced in 94%. Its median error was 0.37%, against 3.25% for Friday’s close. That reading is five minutes before the open, so compare it with the US 9:25 ET row. Our source had no Nextrade (NXT) quotes, and both stocks swung hard.
Gold gained almost nothing from weekend trading. The perp missed the COMEX reopening by a median 0.28%, and Friday’s price by 0.29%. Holding over a weekend means holding through this gap, and the perp is marked all weekend.
What does a $10,000 Bybit TradFi trade really cost?
A Bybit TradFi perp trade has three costs: the trading fee, the order book cost and funding while you hold. In my $10,000 round trips the fee was the largest of the three on the four US contracts and gold. On Samsung Electronics and SK hynix the book cost or funding was bigger.
Bybit’s announcements list a TradFi perps promo rate of 0% maker and 0.0275% taker for VIP 0, until further notice, against a standard 0.02% and 0.055%. One older help page still describes regular perp fees, so trust the order screen.
| Product | Maker | Taker | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bybit TradFi perps, promo (VIP 0) | 0% | 0.0275% | Bybit announcements, until further notice |
| Bybit TradFi perps, standard (VIP 0) | 0.02% | 0.055% | Rate before the promo |

| Bybit MT5 CFD, Zero-Fee Mode | None | None | Cost inside the spread |
| Bybit MT5 CFD, Tight-Spread Mode | Per lot | Per lot | Bybit CFD fees help article |
The order book cost is the gap between the middle of the book and your average market fill. I pulled the Bybit perp, Binance perp and Bybit spot books at the same moment every ten minutes. Figures are one way, before fees.

At $10,000 Binance’s book was cheaper to cross in every row. xStocks spot started wider, with a 0.037% spread on Tesla against 0.011% on the perp. A few hours of snapshots are only a sample (more in our order book guide).
Then I added it up for a $10,000 market order in and out, held one day: the fee twice, the book cost twice and one day of average long funding.

View full size ↗At the promo fee, Bybit came out lower on Nvidia, QQQ and gold. Binance came out lower on Tesla, Apple, Samsung Electronics and SK hynix. At the standard 0.055% taker fee, Bybit was the most expensive of the three on every contract. Funding here is a daily average, and most rounds were zero. Resting limit orders pay 0% maker at both exchanges and don’t cross the book, but they may not fill.

How much does funding cost on Bybit stock and gold perps?
From each listing date to October 29, 2026, funding on Bybit TradFi perps cost longs between 0.8% a year (Apple) and 36% (SK hynix). QQQ came to 4.9% and gold to 5.2%.
I downloaded every funding payment from the Bybit and Binance public APIs for the same days. Per year means the sum a long paid × 365 ÷ days held. A positive number means longs paid.
| Perp | Since | Every | Total paid by longs | Per year | Non-zero rounds | Binance per year | Bybit last 30 days |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| TSLAUSDT | April 21, 2026 | 8h | 3.82% | 7.3% | 22.3% | 8.6% | 7.8% |
| NVDAUSDT | May 6, 2026 | 8h | 4.46% | 9.2% | 36.9% | 9.7% | 4% |
| AAPLUSDT | April 28, 2026 | 8h | 0.4% | 0.8% | 13.9% | 2.6% | -3.7% |
| QQQUSDT | May 7, 2026 | 8h | 2.34% | 4.9% | 26.2% | 6.7% | 5.8% |
| XAUUSDT | March 9, 2026 | 4h | 3.34% | 5.2% | 35.9% | 4.1% | 12.3% |
| SAMSUNGUSDT | June 4, 2026 | 8h | 5.19% | 12.8% | 41.8% | 12.3% | -0.3% |
| SKHYNIXUSDT | June 4, 2026 | 8h | 14.58% | 36% | 55.5% | 33.2% | 20.8% |
All seven had longs paying on net, so the perps traded slightly above the underlying on average. Most rounds paid nothing. On QQQ, 36.4% of rounds in US regular hours were non-zero, and 8.6% on weekends and holidays.
Over the last 30 days gold ran at 12.3% a year. Apple went the other way at -3.7%, so its longs were paid lately. These numbers cover only the months since each contract listed. A different period, contract or yardstick can change the conclusion. The mechanics are in our funding rate guide.
How much leverage on Nasdaq (QQQ), Tesla and gold perps?
Bybit’s QQQ perp tracks the Nasdaq 100 ETF and goes up to 50x for positions up to $10,000. There is no perp on the Nasdaq index itself. Tesla reaches 100x up to $5,000, and Nvidia and Apple match it. Gold reaches 150x up to $10,000.
A risk limit tier is a band of position size with its own leverage cap and maintenance margin. Maintenance margin is the minimum a position must keep before it is liquidated. The higher the leverage, the smaller the price move that liquidates you. The top leverage only applies to the smallest position-size tier.
Tier caps below are from Bybit’s public API on October 29, 2026. For liquidations I simulated a long and a short every hour from listing to October 29. Each used isolated margin at the first tier. An entry counted as liquidated when the 5-minute mark price touched its liquidation price. Fees and funding were left out, so real liquidations come a little sooner.
| Perp | Top leverage by tier | 10x, 24h | 25x, 24h | 50x, 24h | 25x, 7 days |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| TSLAUSDT | 100x to $5,000, then 75x | 0.25% | 13.7% | 39.3% | 53% |
| NVDAUSDT | 100x to $5,000, then 75x | 0.01% | 8.1% | 35.7% | 48.7% |
| AAPLUSDT | 100x to $5,000, then 75x | 0.19% | 2.5% | 22% | 30.6% |
| QQQUSDT | 50x to $10,000, then 25x | 0% | 2.6% | 37.6% | 28.5% |
| XAUUSDT | 150x to $10,000, then 100x | 0% | 2.6% | 18.2% | 27.1% |
| SAMSUNGUSDT | 100x to $10,000, then 50x | 6.3% | 37.1% | 64% | 73.3% |
| SKHYNIXUSDT | 100x to $10,000, then 50x | 8.2% | 40.7% | 66.8% | 73.6% |
| BTCUSDT (same months) | n/a | 0.19% | 5.9% | 30.6% | 39.5% |
At 5x and 10x the US stocks, QQQ and gold were almost never liquidated within a day. At 25x, Tesla was liquidated within 24 hours 13.7% of the time. Bitcoin in the same months: 5.9%. Apple was 2.5%. Samsung Electronics and SK hynix reached 37.1% and 40.7%.
I also entered just before the Friday close and held to the reopen. At 25x, 3 of 206 US stock entries were liquidated before the reopen. Gold was 0 of 66 and Korean stocks 41 of 84. Bitcoin in the same windows was 4 of 54. At 50x the US count rose to 71 of 206. These are small samples.

How do you log in to Bybit MT5, and why does it fail?
Bybit MT5 has its own account number, password and server name. They are separate from your Bybit login and UID. You get them when you open the MT5 CFD Account under TradFi → CFD.
You don’t need the MT5 app, since Bybit’s CFD FAQ says CFDs trade in the Bybit app and website. The MT5 apps add charting and Expert Advisors. Download MT5 only from MetaQuotes or the official app stores, then use File → Login to Trade Account.
Bybit’s help pages name the live server Bybit-Live, plus numbered variants. The demo server is Bybit-Demo. Type it exactly as your own Bybit screen shows it. Bybit’s troubleshooting page lists these errors.
| What you see | Usual cause | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Invalid Account | Wrong account number, password or server | Copy the number from Bybit; type the server as shown |
| Server Not Found | Wrong server, or the server is briefly down | Check the spelling, then try again later |
| Outdated Platform Version | Old MT5 app | Update MT5 from MetaQuotes or the app store |
| Login stopped after months away | Archived after three idle months | Unarchive it in Bybit |
| Forgot the MT5 password | MT5 and Bybit passwords are separate | MT5 password reset steps in the Bybit help center |
The three-month archive rule counts an account as idle when it has no balance, orders or positions. Bybit says its demo uses real-time prices with intentional price variations, so demo results don’t carry over one for one.
Why can’t you withdraw your full MT5 CFD balance?
Bybit holds back margin for open positions in the MT5 CFD Account, and doubles that hold on weekends. With no positions open you can move out your equity minus any Credit. With positions open, Bybit’s CFD FAQ uses a margin ratio of 1 on weekdays and 2 on weekends.
The formula is Max[ Min( Equity − Credit − (Margin Ratio × Margin Required), Balance ), 0 ]. In Bybit’s own example, a position that allows a 30 BYUSDT transfer on a weekday allows 0 on the weekend.
Credit is a bonus balance you can use only as CFD margin or to cover commissions and swap. Credit cannot be withdrawn. When you move money out, Credit shrinks in proportion. Losses come out of your own funds first. BYUSDT can also be margin, and it keeps earning while it sits there.
The formula caps the transfer from the MT5 CFD Account to your Unified Trading Account. Sending coins off Bybit is a separate withdrawal after that. TradFi perps skip all of this, since their margin already sits in the UTA.
How do you spot fake Bybit MT5 logins and support?
A real Bybit MT5 CFD Account is opened only from TradFi → CFD in the Bybit app or website. MT5 logins that reach you on Telegram or from a stranger belong to someone else’s server. Bybit’s Authenticity Checker and Anti-Phishing Code help you check what is genuine.
MT5 is a public app that many brokers use, so anyone can run a server and hand out logins. With a real app and a fake server, the profits on screen are only numbers. I found no confirmed fake Bybit MT5 server, so read this as how such a scam would work.
What does show up is fake Bybit support on Telegram asking for a test transfer. Fake copy-trading sites show profits and then block withdrawals. Fake login guides sit in search results. The Anti-Phishing Code is a code you set that appears in every genuine Bybit email. A request to pay a fee before a withdrawal is a scam signal.
See our crypto scams guide, or the hacked account steps if someone already got in.

How do you trade gold on Bybit: XAUUSD, XAUUSDT or XAUT?
Bybit offers gold three ways. XAUUSD is an MT5 CFD with weekday sessions and a nightly swap. XAUUSDT is a TradFi perp that trades 24/7 with funding every 4 hours. XAUT is Tether Gold, a spot token with no leverage.
| XAUUSD · MT5 CFD | XAUUSDT · TradFi perp | XAUT · spot token | |
|---|---|---|---|
| You hold | A CFD on the price | A perp on the price | Tether Gold token |
| Account | MT5 CFD Account | Unified Trading Account | Unified Trading Account, spot |
| Hours | Weekday sessions | 24/7 | 24/7 |
| Holding cost | Nightly swap | Funding every 4 hours | None |
| Leverage | Tiered; Bybit documents differ, see Specification | 150x to $10,000, then 100x | None |
| We measured | Nothing (no public data) | Funding 5.2% a year; weekend error 0.28% vs 0.29% | Order book only |
Bybit’s API docs call XAUUSDT a separate commodity perpetual from the CFD. XAUTUSDT and PAXGUSDT perps on the regular USDT futures menu track gold tokens instead. Tokenized gold such as XAUT trades like a coin, with no funding or swap.
On the gold perp, a $10,000 round trip cost $6.95 at the promo fee. At 25x it was liquidated within a day 2.6% of the time. It traded below COMEX gold futures by 0.18% to 1.19%, which is the futures’ carrying cost. With that removed, its market-hours wobble was a median 0.013%.
If the gold perp is what you want, it sits in the same account as any Bybit USDT perp.

My take on Bybit TradFi
In my view Bybit TradFi perps are the simpler of Bybit’s two TradFi contracts. MT5 CFDs make sense mainly if you want MT5 itself.
In market hours the perps sat right on the stock. On weekends they priced in only part of Monday’s move. How much depended on the yardstick. The trading fee was the biggest cost on most contracts. At 25x, Apple was liquidated within a day 2.5% of the time and SK hynix 40.7%.
If this is new to you, decide whether you want 24/7 trading, MT5 tools or the share itself. Then read the fee screen or the MT5 Specification window. Check what stays open over a weekend, and read the withdrawal rules.
I trust the CFD side least. I could not measure its spreads, and its leverage and 3-day swap day differ between documents. Demo prices vary on purpose, and the CFD provider sits on the other side of your trade.

If you already have a futures or CFD broker, compare its costs with moving USDT here. If you want to own shares, Bybit Stocks or a stock broker fits better.
